Baseball History
The roots of baseball appear to be English in origin but the beginning is still unknown. Similar games exist around the world in many countries however the origins of baseball relates closely to many folk games that appeared in England. Modern games that are similar in nature include softball, cricket and rounders.
As for the United States many people played a baseball type game made up of their own rules dating back to the 18th century. As for the major league or professional baseball, the National League developed from previous groups around 1876. After numerous tries by competitors, the American League was finally formed around 1901.
